Our Unique Trip to England!

In July of 2022 my family and I met up in England for a visit to friends, and my mothers side of the family. While I had previously visited the typical tourist spots in London a few summers back, this year we were going for a more relaxed and "off the grid" style vacation. I'd like to preface that we were only in England for a few days, and although we had wanted a relaxed trip just to enjoy the company of our friends, it turned out to be anything but.

Henley Regatta:

Due to being a 21-year-old sorority girl who knows nothing about rowing, I didn't know about the Henley Royal Regatta until my father (a former college rower) basically fangirled over the fact that the Henley would be occurring just 15 minutes from where we were staying. Held annually on the River Thames, the Henley is the most British event I could’ve imagined! Very posh people, wearing very posh hats, drinking their even more posh cocktails. Sign me up! We dressed up to spend the day snacking and drinking on a perfect England day (with very little watching of the actual rowing). If you are visiting London during the Regatta, I would definitely check it out if you want to spend a day outside the city!

Wimbledon:

This event you are more likely familiar with! By some luck of the gods, Wimbledon had just started while we were visiting, and we happened to score some sweet last minute tickets for Court One. Indulge in the iconic berries and cream, and don't forget the champagne! Wimbledon was such an amazing experience, and it was even more special because my sister had dreamt of attending for years. I will admit, I don't follow tennis religiously, although I grew up watching it constantly due to my mom's obsession with Roger Federer. However, I will take any excuse to spend a summer day outside, and look cute doing it! If you are able to get tickets to a main court, great! If not, no worries! We parked ourselves on Mount Murray along with about a thousand of our bff’s and got to watch Murray play on the big screen and it was just as fun as sitting inside the arena.
